Parents’ shame as fur flies in the Battle of Build-A-Bear

More tragedy on British streets. In shopping centres across the land, fights broke out in queues for bargain teddy bears. This happened after the company Build-ABear ran a promotion called Pay Your Age Day, whereby customers could purchase a personalis­ed teddy bear for the same price as their child’s age. Lovely idea? Not so much. Some parents queued nine hours and security guards had to separate brawling dads. Police were called to the store in Leeds, while others had to be shut for safety reasons. Parents causing riots in shopping centres over stuffed animals? What have we become?
