Bonus culture
THE £511 million payday for fat- cat housing executives (Mail) is a disgrace.
This obscene amount of money is paid by buyers who are experiencing problems with their new homes.
Deficiencies dismissed as minor snags include walls that are not straight, uneven floors, sewage and waste water not connected properly, leaks, wrong fittings and electrics that don’t work. It appears there are insufficient checks on quality control when work is not completed to a basic, satisfactory standard.
Developers are not taking responsibility for the defective work of their contractors.
Senior managers should visit building sites and get these problems sorted.
Then they could accept reasonable bonuses with a clear conscience, knowing their customers are happy.
