Masar to have leg injury scan
DERBY winner Masar will have a scan on his right foreleg tomorrow to determine the severity of the injury which ruled him out of last Saturday’s Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. The Godolphin-owned colt’s trainer, Charlie Appleby, said: ‘The inflammation has come down but he is carrying a bit of heat around the area. ‘Until we have a scan, we do not know what that entails. He was never lame, there was just inflammation there and he was sore.’ Blue Point heads the 14 runners for tomorrow’s July Cup at Newmarket. Opposition includes the Commonwealth Cup one-two, Eqtidaar and Sands of Mali, plus Australian hope Redkirk Warrior, who was unplaced behind Merchant Navy in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
