WHAT NEXT FOR THREE LIONS?
BATTLE FOR THIRD
Beat Belgium tomorrow in St Petersburg and England will finish third — which would make this their best World Cup on foreign soil.
NATIONS LEAGUE
Autumn will see England take part in the Nations League — UEFA’S new tournament designed to give countries fewer friendlies and more competitive matches. England are in a three-team group with Spain and Croatia — so they don’t have to wait long to get revenge for Wednesday night’s semi-final defeat. October’s match in Rijeka will be played behind closed doors as punishment for Croatia having a swastika etched on their pitch during a match in 2015. England play Spain and Croatia home and away, with the group winners advancing to the Nations League finals in June 2019.
AUTUMN FIXTURES
Sep 8 v Spain (Nations League, Wembley) Sep 11 v Switzerland (Friendly, King Power Stadium) Oct 12 v Croatia (Nations League, Rijeka) Oct 15 v Spain (Nations League, Seville) Nov 15 v USA (Friendly, Wembley) Nov 18 v Croatia (Nations League, Wembley)
EURO 2020 QUALIFIERS
England’s qualification campaign for Euro 2020 takes place between March and November 2019. They will be in a five- or six-team group with the top two sides heading to the Euro 2020 finals, which will be held at venues across Europe.
IT’S COMING HOME . . .
Wembley is hosting three group games, one last-16 tie, the semi-finals and the final of Euro 2020 — meaning that England could play six matches at home!
