Happy summer escapes

-

WITH warm summer weather set to continue, why waste fine weekends cooped up at home mowing the lawn, making beds or mulling over the latest twists and turns of Brexit.

Instead, it’s time to break out and head for the coast or countryside to relax and remember what life’s all about.

Sea air, vivid sunsets, clambering around castles and visiting thatched village pubs — there are loads of great British delights waiting to be rediscovered this summer.

With Afternoon Tea Week starting today, scones, jam and cream in a hotel sounds pretty good, too. Meanwhile, feasting foodies, aerobatic fanatics and history buffs will find lots of fun going on, such as the Newlyn fish or Bournemouth air festivals.

There’s still a week or more until the schools break up, for a last-minute trip while it’s quiet.

And once the main holidays kick off, look out for cottage, lodge or hotel late availability getaways over the summer.

Short breaks are the holiday of choice for many of us now, tying in well with the pressures of work by giving a chance to relax and recharge with family or friends.

So why not head off for a happy escape under summer skies?
