Chelsea chase £53m Higuain for Sarri

- By MATT BARLOW and SIMON JONES

CHELSEA have held talks with Juventus about striker Gonzalo Higuain as new manager Maurizio Sarri swept into Stamford Bridge last night, with Gianfranco Zola as his No 2. After Antonio Conte’s sacking was finally confirmed, Chelsea look ready to back Sarri with a recruitment drive. Argentina’s Higuain, 30, is valued at £53m by Juve but Chelsea want a swap deal to include their £65m record signing, Alvaro Morata. Juventus would prefer the cash after spending £100m on Cristiano Ronaldo. Chelsea held talks with Napoli midfielder Jorginho yesterday over his proposed £50m transfer and want to sell some foreign players, including Davide Zappacosta, to accommodate new recruits and maintain their homegrown quota. They have rejected offers from Barcelona for Willian and expect Real Madrid bids for Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.
