1 in 5 diabetic staff accused over sick days
ALMOST one in five workers with diabetes have been disciplined by their bosses for taking time off due to their condition, research revealed.
In the survey of British diabetics, 19 per cent said they had faced disciplinary action in the past for missing work as a result of the disease.
Another 25 per cent claimed they had been grilled about sick days, while 12 per cent said they had been refused time off – despite laws banning discrimination against people with the condition.
Glucose-monitoring firm Dexcom commissioned the poll of more than 800 people.
