THE GREAT IMPERIAL CROWN

MADE by a court jeweller for Catherine the Great’s coronation, it includes 5,000 diamonds and a nearly 00 carat ruby red spinel. It is split into two sections, representing the east and west of Russia, and is topped with a cross made from five diamonds. Used for coronations, it was last worn in 1906 for the state opening of the Duma.
