THE REGENTE PEARL

THE Regente pearl, the largest natural-shaped pearl in the world at 302.68 grains, was bought by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1811. In 1887, following the downfall of Napoleon III, the president of the Third Republic sold the crown jewels at auction and it was bought by Carl Fabergé. He sold it to Prince Nikolai Yusupov whose grandson Prince Felix married into the Romanov family.
