Elizabeth II! In curls and pearls, Olivia inherits The Crown
HAIR perfectly coiffed, her posture impeccable, pearls around her neck and a dainty china cup in hand … you’d be forgiven for thinking this is the Queen enjoying breakfast in days gone by.
But this is not a candid image of the monarch – it is a first look at Olivia Colman in her starring role in Netflix series The Crown.
The actress, 44, has taken over from Claire Foy, who played a younger version of the Queen. The image appeared on The Crown’s Twitter account with the caption ‘patience’ – as fans eagerly await new episodes.
Colman said she is thrilled to be taking over the role of the monarch for the third and fourth series, which pick up the story in 1963 and begin screening next year. Helena Bonham Carter also takes over from Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, while Tobias Menzies replaces Matt Smith as Prince Philip.
