Taxi! Co-op to deliver by cab

-

THE Co-op is swapping delivery vans for taxis in a bid to cut costs and get items to customers faster.

The chain, which does not have an online shopping service, has been trialling using taxis to courier items in a bid to compete with online-only retailers like Amazon and Ocado.

Currently shoppers must order in store. Delivery is free on orders of more than £25, or else £3. The trial – by three stores in Bristol, Greater Manchester and West Sussex – could be rolled out further after it ends next month. The Co-op said it has no plans for an online delivery launch.
