FRAUD INFANTINO FOOLS NO ONE
LOOKING every inch the fraud he is, FIFA president Gianni Infantino (below) turned up at his final World Cup press conference, dressed as a volunteer. ‘We are all volunteers,’ he said, in support of the men and women who have helped make this World Cup such a success. Except he’s no more a volunteer than the smiling teenager greeting visitors at the metro is boss of FIFA. Volunteers are unpaid, beyond expenses, Infantino’s basic wage is in the region of £1.16million annually. He ruled out paying volunteers at future World Cups, all the while cloaked opportunistically in their garb. And talking of clothing, at this World Cup, while Russia were fined £7,500 for the raising of a neo-Nazi banner by fans, England were deducted over £50,000 when three players wore unauthorised non-slip socks. So, yes, it has been an excellent World Cup, one of the best, but never forget: it’s still FIFA.
