‘She broke free and escaped’

A FAMILY doctor dropped a towel wrapped around his waist and exposed himself in front of his housekeeper after telling her, ‘Me and you have chemistry’, a tribunal heard.

Dr Mohammad Ihsan, 36, is accused of making the unwanted advance as the woman was cleaning his apartment, allegedly telling her: ‘I’m looking for some fun.’

The married GP faces being struck off after she told investigators he locked the door then pushed her into a corner despite her protesting: ‘I’m not that type of person.’

She said she managed to break free when her mobile phone rang and she was able to unlock the door before escaping.

Last year Dr Ihsan was suspended from practising for nine months over an incident where he asked a patient whether she wanted to have sex on his desk.

In the current case, he is alleged to have made several unwanted advances towards the housekeeper between January and April last year after he rented the property in Huddersfield. The woman complained and the GP was subsequently asked to leave by managers at the serviced apartment block.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service was told that the housekeeper – referred to as Miss A – cleaned flats at the complex where Dr Ihsan had taken out a lease.

Helena Duong, for the General Medical Council, told the hearing in Manchester that he was frequently present when she was cleaning.

‘In one incident, she went to the room to collect her keys which she had left behind and Dr Ihsan opened the door with a towel around his waist,’ she said. ‘After she retrieved her keys, he dropped his towel and exposed his bottom in her sight.’

‘About a week after this when she was making his bed… he came behind her and he put his bottom on top of hers. She describes feeling uncomfortable and moving away.’

Miss Duong said that about three weeks later, she was cleaning a room and walked past Dr Ihsan’s en-suite bathroom while he was using the shower with his door open. ‘We say he did this on purpose to expose himself to her,’ she added. Then on April 4 while Miss A was cleaning she went to fetch things from her trolley, returning to the room find Dr Ihsan with a towel around his waist. He said, ‘Me and you have chemistry’, and locked the door, it was alleged.

‘He pushed her into the corner and said that he “wanted to have fun” but she said that she is “not that type of person”,’ said Miss Duong.

The GP then ‘dropped his towel’, revealing he was aroused and began to touch himself sexually.

‘She tried to get away but he grabbed her bottom and he pushed both his hands down the back her trousers so they were resting over her underwear,’ said Miss Duong. ‘She managed to break free and unlock the door and escape.’

Following the alleged incidents the housekeeper became nervous when she was about to clean Dr Ihsan’s flat. She then broke down in tears and told her partner what had happened, the tribunal heard.

Dr Ihsan, from Huddersfield, denies sexually motivated misconduct. The hearing continues.

In last year’s case, he was found guilty of misconduct over an incident at Dr Singh and Partners Health Centre in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, where he was working as a locum in 2016.

He said to a patient who wanted to be prescribed the Pill that he was ‘horny’. He also told the shocked woman that he wanted to see her bottom and asked whether she wanted to have sex on his desk. She fled in horror.
