Attack wasn’t all it seemed
A FATAL attack on a Polish man two months after the referendum was initially cited as evidence of Brexit hate crime.
The family of Arkadiusz Jozwik, 40, said he was assaulted by a teenager in Essex after speaking Polish.
But in court it emerged that there were allegations of racism on both sides. The boy, who was 15, was sentenced to three years for manslaughter.
After the case, Polish journalist Maciej Woroch said: ‘Everyone thought it was a hate crime, then we had to explain why it changed.’
