The same three companies also had the greatest proportion of complaints among landline providers, with TalkTalk on 20, Plusnet on 15 and BT attracting 14 between January and March. Virgin Mobile had 11 complaints per 100,000 customers for its mobile service, but was just ahead of iD Mobile at ten per 100,000.

Among pay TV providers, BT exceeded competitors with 16 complaints per 100,000, followed by Virgin Media with nine and TalkTalk on eight.

Sky received the lowest number of complaints for broadband, landline and pay TV services, while Tesco Mobile was the best performer for pay-monthly mobile.

Ofcom said it received nearly 300 complaints a day from consumers. Overall complaints about broadband and landline services have decreased, and there was no change in the complaints received about mobile services and pay TV.
