DJ D-Sol: New boss of finance powerhouse

DAVID Solomon is not your typical Wall Street banker.

The 56-year-old, who has been named the next chief executive of Goldman Sachs, is a DJ in his spare time ( pictured) — and a successful one at that, performing as D-Sol at gigs from New York to Los Angeles.

DJ Paul Oakenfold and rapper Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs are among his acquaintances.

Solomon, who married his wife Mary in 1989 and is said to be worth £45m, is an avid wine collector and takes vintages from his own cellar to restaurants rather than relying on what they can offer.

His path to one of the most coveted jobs on Wall Street includes a stint at Bear Stearns before joining Goldman in 1999. At Goldman he has been dubbed the ‘culture guy’, after promoting gender diversity and the importance of a work-life balance.
