WITH wacky procedures including beesting therapy, there are few alternative treatments she hasn’t tried.

Now Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed another beauty secret – facial acupuncture.

The actress, 45, covered her face in needles for the painful-looking procedure, which involved sticking them into her eyebrows, nose and neck.

and the star clearly enjoyed her session with New York-based expert Paul Kempisty, who charges £138 for a session.

cosmetic acupuncture, touted as a natural alternative to botox, involves having up to 100 needles inserted into the face and ears. It is claimed to improve skin moisture balance, elasticity and cellular turnover, and to reduce inflammation from skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

In other pictures on her website, Goop, the oscar-winner is shown in her underwear with needles sticking into her stomach. she is believed to be a regular acupuncture user, lauding it for its healing benefits. Writing on her blog, she said: ‘one day, when being treated by an acupuncturist, a spanish friend who was visiting me in London walked into the room and remarked that I looked like a bull who’d had a run-in with the picadors (the dudes on horseback who stick the bull with many little knives to rile him up before the actual fight).

‘I assured her that although I was stuck with needles, I was faring far better than the bull would in the analogous scenario. In fact, those many little needles have helped me through many an ailment.’ Mother-oftwo Miss Paltrow, who swears by a vegan diet and plenty of yoga, is known to be a keen follower of holistic medicine.

on her blog, she wrote: ‘The root of the problem is addressed, as opposed to a symptom being attended to with prescription medication, only to return. don’t get me wrong, I am thankful as hell for a round of antibiotics or surgery when necessary, but I have been helped tremendously by all of the practices that help the body heal itself.
