BARGAIN OF THE WEEK
Graham Norton’s Own Rosé 2017, £7.50 (normally £9.50), Tesco GRAHAM NORTON, rarely seen without a glass on his TV chat show, launched a sauvignon blanc a few years ago. And now he’s got a rosé. Light, fresh, subtle redcurrant fruits and a touch of sweetness. Dangerously drinkable.
WHITE WINE
Danaris Gruner Veltliner 2017, £9.89, Laithwaites GORGEOUS lime-filled white made from Austria’s secret weapon, the Gruner Veltliner grape. Crisp, fresh, aromatic and refreshingly light but brilliantly memorable, this ticks so many summer white boxes.
FOOD PAIRING: Grilled white fish.
RED WINE
Tanners Australian Shiraz 2016, £8.95, Tanners THIS is properly good value. It’s juicy and joyous, with buckets of bramble fruit flavours, finishing with a touch of black pepper. It’s selling well, so get in there quick.
FOOD PAIRING: Burgers.
SPARKLING WINE
Bird in Hand Sparkling Pinot Noir, £15.99, Waitrose THIS bright pink fizz comes with a big dollop of strawberry and cherry fruits and carries more weight than most pink sparkling wines out there. Refreshingly modern.
FOOD PAIRING: Skips crisps.
