Pack your bags! Half of us take tea on holiday

- Daily Mail Reporter

IT IS a characteristic that unites Britons – holding disdain for what passes as a cup of tea in most other countries.

And now a survey has found that more than half of us take our own teabags on holiday – while a third pack the biscuits too.

A poll of 2,000 people found that 55 per cent bring along our favourite teabags – and 49 per cent even pack their preferred coffee beans.

It seems many of us just aren’t willing to forsake our everyday luxuries, as 32 per cent admitted to taking their own packets of biscuits, while 30 per cent pack their own fluffy towels. Of those questioned in the survey by hire firm Europcar, 29 per cent took their own crisps and 23 per cent brought their own booze on holiday.

Richard Ellis, 39, of St Albans in Hertfordshire, said he always travelled with his own teabags. He explained: ‘I took them to Thailand last year and I’ll be taking them to Cornwall this year. It doesn’t matter where I am, the teabags go with me – even to my parents who live down the road from me but don’t drink the same tea as me.’

Gary Smith of Europcar said: ‘It’s really interesting to see what holidaymakers decide to take with them – with a fifth of people admitting they pack too much.’
