Deeper voice in men a sign of strong health
MEN with deep voices may be better protected against colds.
Researchers from Boston University found that those with deeper, more monotone voices have higher levels of a compound in their saliva called immunoglobulin A— a sign of an effective immune system.
‘Men with lower voices had levels of protective antibodies that confer lower risk of infection and illness,’ say the authors in the journal Evolution and Behaviour. The study may also explain previous findings that women prefer men with deeper voices — because it is a sign of strong health.
