BARGAIN OF THE WEEK

LaCheteau Cremant de Loire Brut NV, £9.99 (normally £14.99), Ocado FANTASTIC fizz from France’s Loire Valley, this is made in the same way as Champagne but from Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc grapes. Lovely and light, it’s a great (and cheaper) alternative.

WHITE WINE

Villa Blanche Terret Blanc, £8.49, Waitrose THE Terret Blanc grape is deliciously under the radar, tasting a bit like Sauvignon Blanc but with more meat on its bones. From the Languedoc region in France, this one’s fresh and crisp with citrus fruits, a bit of white peach and a touch of spice.

FOOD PAIRING: Caesar salad.

RED WINE

Frappato di Sicilia, Nicosia 2016, £9.50, Wine Society LOVE this juicy, raspberry jamscented red from the island of Sicily in Southern Italy. The grape is Frappato and it’s the kind of red made for warm weather because chilling it brings out the fruit flavours.

FOOD PAIRING: Tomato saucedrenched pasta.

PINK GIN

Chase Pink Grapefruit & Pomelo Gin 50cl, £24 (normally £27.50), Tesco A PERKY pink gin from one of the UK’s top producers. Pomelo fruit (basically a large grapefruit) adds additional tang.
