Yes, you can balance work with family life
STARTING a business can solve problems for women trying to achieve a work-life balance.
Hayley Limpkin, founding principal of the Razzamataz Theatre School in Medway, Kent, was named Lifestyle Franchisee of the Year at the British Franchise Association Awards 2018. This award recognises franchisees who bought into franchising to get a better work-life balance.
Hayley, who opened her school in 2010 after working in marketing, says: ‘In 2014, my young son Finlay had a serious illness. The support from Razzamataz allowed me to take the time I needed to be with my son during all his hospital visits.
‘If I was in my corporate career, there would have been no way that I could have kept working after his diagnosis.’
Razzamataz managing director Denise HuttonGosney says: ‘Hayley’s story about being able to work around her family is typical of many of our franchisees’ experiences.’ The franchise investment is £7,995.
Jane Stacey owns a Baby Sensory franchise with daughter Abi. Jane says: ‘I was made redundant at 59 from my admin job. I had wanted to run a business all my life so when Abi, who took her children to Baby Sensory classes, said the local area franchise was up for sale, we invested.
‘I started out running classes, but since the business has grown, Abi and our three staff run them while I do the admin and accounts.
‘My past experience of admin and cash flow prepared me well.’
The Baby Sensory franchise costs £7,450.
