The mother of three murdered in street attack

A MOTHER of three who was killed in a ‘targeted’ street attack has been named as Kelly franklin, 29.

She was pronounced dead at the scene following an incident in oxford Road, Hartlepool, on friday evening.

A 30-year-old man and a 48year- old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody.

Cleveland police said the victim died after suffering ‘significan­t injuries’ and believe the attack was ‘targeted’.

Last night a spokesman said: ‘Kelly, a mother of three young children from Hartlepool, sadly died after suffering significan­t injuries in an incident on oxford Road.

‘Specially trained officers are supporting Kelly’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this extremely difficult time.’

officers were called to the reports of a woman with ‘significan­t injuries’ just after 9pm on friday.

Detectives are appealing for informatio­n from any members of the public who were in or near the area at the time.

Anyone with dashcam footage from their cars is also being asked to come forward because the route is used by a number of cars, taxis and buses. officers have said there remains a high police presence surroundin­g the area. Images show at least one police car and one van guarding a cordon on the residentia­l street.

Specialist forensics officers could be seen scouring oxford Road for clues.

Chief Superinten­dent Alastair Simpson said: ‘Residents in the local area will naturally be shocked by what has happened and I would like to reassure them that we have a dedicated team who are working tirelessly on this case and all the necessary specialist resources are being made available to them.

‘there is a visible police presence in and around the area of the murder.’

He added: ‘ Anyone in the local community who has concerns can approach any of these officers and speak to them about this incident.’
