PLAYER RATINGS

- By KIERAN GILL AT WEMBLEY STADIUM

CHELSEA (4-3-3) TEAM AVERAGE 5.0

WILLY CABALLERO 6 Defence often left him vulnerable. No chance of stopping Aguero’s first. Kept score respectable.

CESAR AZPILICUETA 5 Frustrated by a lack of options ahead of him on the rare occasion he burst down the right wing.

ANTONIO RUDIGER 5 Poor defending for City’s opener. Stepped to the side so Aguero could aim for the bottom corner.

DAVID LUIZ 4.5 Backed off as City charged forward for their opener. Caught out too many times.

MARCOS ALONSO 5 Found Mahrez too hot to handle. Tried to support team-mate Hudson-Odoi on the wing.

CESC FABREGAS 4.5 Didn’t protect back four with a big gap between defence and midfield. N’Golo Kante was missed.

JORGINHO 5 Sloppy at times. City made sure Chelsea’s £57m signing had as little time on the ball as possible.

ROSS BARKLEY 5 Looking fit and strong but anonymous in first half and he struggled to make an impact.

PEDRO 5 Not very influential. Surprising that Sarri did not substitute the Spaniard sooner. Quiet.

ALVARO MORATA 4.5 New number on his back, but same old Morata. His one chance to score went into the stands.

CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI 6 Tremendous confidence for a teenager. Often Chelsea’s main threat, particularly in first half.

SUBSTITUTES

Willian 6 (Hudson-Odoi, 59min) Drinkwater 6 (Fabregas, 60) Abraham 6 (Morata, 69) Moses 6 (Pedro, 79) Not used: Zappacosta, Christensen, Bulka.

MAURIZIO SARRI 5 His defence needs work. But it is difficult to judge Chelsea under Sarri until Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante are back.

MAN CITY (4-3-3) TEAM AVERAGE 7.2

CLAUDIO BRAVO 6.5 Odd frightening moment. Misjudged a bounce and the ball went over his head. Got away with it.

KYLE WALKER 7 Showed his experience when marking HudsonOdoi. Barely put a foot wrong all game.

JOHN STONES 7.5 Straightforward day at the office. Interestingly he moved into midfield when Kompany came on.

AYMERIC LAPORTE 7.5 His brilliant ball into midfield cut Chelsea open and started the move that led to the opener.

BENJAMIN MENDY 7 Fit again following last season’s horror injury. Lots of overlapping runs on the left wing.

BERNARDO SILVA 8 Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva were out but Bernardo was superb. Did everything asked of him.

FERNANDINHO 7 Tidy job and a key part of the City press that left Chelsea struggling. Commanding presence.

PHIL FODEN 7.5 Helped drive City forward and set Aguero up for his opener. Such talent for an 18-year-old.

RIYAD MAHREZ 7 Had Alonso on toast at times. Nearly got a goal in the second half. Good start to his City career.

SERGIO AGUERO 8.5 Fine finish for opener and nicely tucked ball under Caballero for his second. Could have had a hat-trick.

LEROY SANE 6 Quiet. Hugged the touchline but ball barely came his way. Subbed at half-time due to a knock.

SUBSTITUTES

Gundogan 6.5 (Sane, 46) Jesus 6.5 (Mahrez, 68) Diaz (Foden, 76) Kompany (Aguero, 80) Otamendi (Laporte, 87) Gomes (Stones, 90) Not used: Ederson.

PEP GUARDIOLA 8 Frantic on the touchline as per usual. His team will take some beating for the Premier League title this season.
