Porridge? This inmate feasts on a full English and cheesecake (and even has a slow cooker)

- By Georgia Edkins

HE should be doing porridge... but this inmate is proud to show off the extensive repertoire of ‘gourmet’ meals he’s made behind bars.

The brazen prisoner uses contraband cooking gear and smuggled grub to show his creations to his 10,000 followers on Instagram.

Photos and videos uploaded to the website were taken on an illegal mobile phone from inside an unknown prison. His feasts include fish and chip suppers, full English fry-ups, Chinese food, cakes – and accompanied by vodka.

One snap shows a meal of grilled chicken legs, potato salad and avocado, which he was able to make with what looks like a contraband Breville Grill. The unnamed convict, who calls himself @cheffing-hmp online, has also made chicken hotpots in his VonShef slow-cooker.

The social media posts have further called into question the security of prisons as phones and drugs continue to be smuggled into jails. The inmate, who has not been identified and keeps his face hidden by a bandana, posts videos bragging about his cushy lifestyle as he listens to rap music on his stereo and flexes his muscles for the camera. In one clip, he even performs a magic trick. His online followers are quick to praise the convict’s culinary expertise. One fan called @y1.kf wrote: ‘You’re eating too good.’ Another, @badgal-dmz, commented: ‘This page makes me f****** hungry... you’re literally teasing us.’ Meanwhile @ wildeypt asked: ‘How you getting all these ingredients in pen? I struggled to get some noodles.’

Last night the Instagram account was taken down.

It came as a watchdog report revealed inmates at a prison in Cheshire were smuggling in fillet and ribeye steak, sausages and fresh fish. Inmates at the 380capacity HMP Thorn Cross near Warrington said they were going hungry due to ‘ awful’ menu choices and meagre portion sizes.

Prisoners asked their friends to throw food – including tinned tuna, packets of bacon and fresh salmon – over the prison walls.

A report by the prison’s Independent Monitoring Board stated: ‘Contraband entering the establishment continues to be problematic. There have been incidences of mobile phones, sim cards, phone chargers...and even fresh meat and fish.’ The board’s report said positive tests for drugs had increased, adding: ‘There appears to be increasing use of cannabis.’ In 2016 the Mail revealed how prisoners at HMP Guys Marsh in Dorset used smuggled mobile phones to post photos of their comfortable living conditions on Facebook.

Inmates boasted of steak dinners, alcohol and drugs.
