I’m skint while my jailbird ex flaunts her cash

-

First i need to tell readers that your original letter was four times as long, and contained complicated financial detail. it’s a terrible story which leaves me in no doubt that you have been treated appallingly by this women you once thought your ‘soulmate’.

the saga of abandonment, manipulation and dishonesty also leaves me in no doubt that there were too many times, sir, when you laid down and offered yourself as a doormat for this woman. she bullied and ill-treated you, was no mother to her two innocent sons, lied and stole — and you went on suffering without fighting back. Am i right?

two statements here reveal so much. You say you, ‘should have been more ruthless but i am not like that’. And that you have ‘insisted on keeping things civil’ — to the extent that you haven’t discussed your problems with your sons, but suffer alone.

On one level this is all very noble. Yet you have given your ex-wife a

free pass all along, and so all her misdemeanors have been rewarded. Where is the justice in that?

The trouble is — I am not sure what you are asking me.

If you’re hinting that maybe you could take her back to court to reveal her original deception over assets, then surely madness lies that way, after all these years? Then, what’s the truth about her attitude to you? Surely she doesn’t really ‘swear undying love?’ How does that square with flaunting her wealth and laughing at you?

And what makes you imagine she would ‘apologise’ and offer money? I feel desperately sorry for you but believe you must be realistic. You have made yourself this woman’s victim ever since she fell in love with that bloke and you agreed to go away with the boys and let her do what she wanted.

I fear it’s too late to imagine she’ll miraculously turn into your saviour. You have one son across the world and one here, and they owe you a lot.

So I think it’s time to stop protecting them and tell them your troubles.

Then tell her you’re writing the true story of your life with her and having it published — and see what she says.
