Help seemed heaven sent

-

ALAN and Janette Wilson were looking forward to a relaxing stay in Gran Canaria when Alan was taken ill with bacterial meningitis in the early hours of the first night. Once in hospital, their predicament grew when doctors dragged their feet about issuing a report for insurers, while declaring Alan ready for discharge too soon. He says: ‘It was so stressful. I was immobile, very dizzy and had a lot of joint pain. My wife could not have coped with me physically, and it was hard to find a hotel with even a wheelchair.’ Thankfully, Staysure rapidly came to their aid, confirming that the couple qualified for assistance and medical escorted repatriation — and sending out clinician Steve to bring the couple back to the UK. ‘For us, Steve was heaven sent, taking care of it all. His professionalism got us home to our local hospital the day after he arrived, removing the stress of what had been a very emotional and scary experience. ‘With Staysure we had a network of people on our side doing their level best to attend to our needs. ‘I’d recommend them to anyone, absolutely.’
