T P SPIN AT THE TEST

LAWRENCE BOOTH AT LORD’S

-

JIMMY ANDERSON’S figures of five for 20 left him only one wicket away from becoming the first player to take 100 in Tests at Lord’s — and only the second to take that many at a single ground, after Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan, who achieved the feat at three separate venues.

AFTER Chris Woakes removed Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya in successive overs, he finished the day with a Test record at Lord’s reading 16 wickets at the absurdly low average of 9.93.

INDIA can’t seem to make up their mind about their best team. This is the 44th Test in succession in which they have changed it, a sequence that stretches back to their last tour of England in 2014.

BEFORE this series, KL Rahul’s previous Test innings against England brought him 199 at Chennai in December 2016. After being promoted to open here, he was caught behind off Anderson for eight, taking his haul in this series to 25 runs in three innings.
