QPR’S CHIEF IS STEPPING DOWN
TONY FERNANDES is standing down as Queens Park Rangers chairman, with Amit Bhatia in line to replace the Malaysian businessman. Fernandes has been at the helm since becoming the club’s majority shareholder in 2011. But the club has been fraught with difficulties during the 54-year-old’s reign, including relegation from the Premier League and a £17million fine over the failure to comply with Financial Fair Play restrictions. Bhatia, currently vicechairman, has been involved with QPR since 2007 when father-inlaw Lakshmi Mittal became a major shareholder.
