THE VERDICT ON THIS EVIDENCE THERE’S NOTHING FOR CITY TO FEAR

DO Manchester City have anything to fear from Unitd? I don’t think so. There seems to have been issues between Jose Mourinho and Ed Woodward this summer, and United have a lot to make up on their formidable neighbours from last season. They finished 19 points behind City, and trailed them by 38 goals. This summer they brought in Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant. Does that make up that sizeable gap? I highly doubt it. City have that strength in depth which United don’t, and Pep Guardiola’s side blew everyone away with the way they play. One of the positives from last night was the performance of Paul Pogba. The Frenchman picked up where he left off at the World Cup and was full of confidence, which is extremely encouraging. All United could do was try to win. They did that but for me, City are still way ahead.
