MUMMY’S BACK HOME!

Dentist locked up in Dubai ‘for drinking glass of wine’ reunited with family in UK

A MOTHER who said she was jailed in Dubai for drinking on a flight returned to the UK last night.

Dr Ellie Holman, 44, was told she could leave the United Arab Emirates after Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, intervened in the case.

Dr Holman said: ‘I’m just so relieved to be home and can’t wait to be with my family, recover and rest.

‘It feels amazing to be free and back in a safe country. I’m just looking forward to being with my family. I want to hold all of them together and never let them go.’

Dr Holman, a dentist, returned to her home in Sevenoaks, Kent with her two eldest children, Suri, nine and Noah, eight, who had been staying with her in Dubai.

The mother-of-three hugged and kissed her partner Gary as she arrived in the Gatwick arrival hall. Her four-year-old daughter BiBi, who was jailed with her for three days, ran into her arms. BiBi had returned home ahead of her mother, who remained in Dubai while the case against her was pending.

‘I haven’t even begun to comprehend what’s happened to me ... I’ve been running on adrenaline alone for the past month and I’m exhausted,’ Dr Holman said.

Dr Holman claimed she was detained after she admitted drinking on the plane to officials.

But hours before she left the country, Dubai’s attorney general offered a different version of events and denied the alcohol had played any part in the arrest. He alleged the dentist verbally abused an immigration officer following an argument over an expired passport.

Dr Holman said she will address the statement issued by the Dubai authorities at a later time.
