Is it Strictly fair to let Faye dance?
I AM amazed that Faye Tozer (above) of Steps — a band known for its energetic dance routines — and Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts are rumoured to be contestants on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The magic of the show is to watch someone who’s never danced a step in their life, with the help of a professional partner, progress and improve week by week to become a competent dancer. I don’t wish to see contestants who are good dancers to start with and so are head and shoulders above the others. This is not fair and, in fact, a level playing field would be far more entertaining. DAVID WILLEY, Nuthall, Notts. I’D BE delighted if Faye Tozer competes on Strictly. I do not agree that contestants with dance training shouldn’t be allowed to take part. When I watch the show, I want to see quality dancing, rather than comedy routines by no-hopers such as Ann Widdecombe and John Sergeant. No experienced dancers who have appeared in previous series have won, so it appears this is not an unfair advantage. CHERRY WILDE, Nottingham.
