Insider favourite for WPP’s top job
InTeRnaL candidate Mark Read remains tipped as the most likely successor to Sir Martin Sorrell to run advertising giant WPP as the race draws to a close.
Read, 51, became joint chief operating officer after Sir Martin’s shock resignation in april after three decades at the helm of the firm.
It followed a probe into allegations of personal misconduct, which the 73-year-old has strenuously denied.
He has since set up S4 Capital through which he plans to build up a digital marketing empire. He said he wanted to ‘get back on the horse as quickly as possible’.
WPP is expected to announce Sir Martin’s successor in early September.
