Rise of the two-year degree
APPLICATIONS for two-year degrees have soared as students look to save money amid soaring fees, data suggests.
Dropping a year of study saves thousands in fees and living costs, with three-year courses setting students back around £27,000 for tuition alone.
And admissions tutors say there is no compromise on quality, as students simply study for more weeks in the year. At the University of Buckingham – the first to offer two-year degrees and one of the biggest providers – applications rose by 10 per cent in a year to 1,474.
Others to see applications double and more include Birmingham City University, with applications for its digital marketing course alone up almost five-fold to 78 over three years. Fees at Buckingham are around £25,000 for the two years .
