Clarifications & corrections

A SUB-HEADING within an article on 13 April about an inquiry into disgraced MP Cyril Smith may have suggested that ex-Rochdale MP Liz Lynne ignored accusations of abuse. In fact, the inquiry concluded it could not make any findings about the truth or accuracy of claims made against Miss Lynne, and that it would be unfair to do so, as it did not seek live evidence from Miss Lynne. We are happy to make this clear.
