SUMMER FLOWERS

The daisy with its golden eye And radiant umbrella head The warmer months personify And Earth’s unchanging message spread, Fresh growth renewals ratify By surging life-force pulses fed. The buttercup in gilded sheen Is in its rustic picture set, In fertile meadow lands demesne Is by the morning sunlight met, A pastoral idyllic scene Fresh painted by the dew drops wet. The petals of the dog rose wild The innocence of youth recall, Compel attention of the child With transformation bountiful, An artist’s gallery compiled Of living colours natural. The purple bells of foxglove rest In sunny spot by leafy nook, To nature’s permanence attest By bank of quiet running brook, Recurring seasonal bequest Epitome of summer’s look. Much more than mere ornament Cosmetic flourish or display Wild flower blossoms supplement The beauty of a summer day, Artistic insights complement In floral patterns interplay.
