My Muslim wife will never wear a burka
BORIS JOHNSON’S controversial comments about the burka have started a debate about this issue. I am an Anglo-Saxon Muslim convert, having taken the Shahada earlier this year to enable me to marry my Muslim bride. My wife, Suneeta, is a devout Muslim, but respects other people’s customs and will not wear the hijab if it is not the norm for that country. She will always wear a hijab in a Muslim country, but even then not in the family home. She never wears a burka. The women are not the problem when it comes to the issue of the burka; it is the men, who have been brainwashed and conditioned from childhood. It is about control and subjugation of women. Women are segregated in the mosques for praying and eating. The men and women equally believe in Allah, just as Christians believe in God, but the difference is that Christianity no longer subjugates its female followers. As the decades have passed, the Christian churches have slowly modernised and no longer burn women at the stake or dunk them until they drown. This is the complete opposite to the Islamic faith, which has not evolved since 600 AD. Believers are brainwashed to believe the Koran is perfect and does not need to be altered, changed or modernised. Woman are still stoned to death in Saudi Arabia. Surely faith belongs in the heart and the home, not in the public view, schools or Parliament. Is there a God? It is open to speculation and belief.
