Mount shows his class to lift Lampard

- MIKE KEEGAN

FRANK LAMPARD’S Derby rebounded from a 4-1 home thrashing by Leeds United with a comfortable Carabao Cup victory at League Two Oldham. A first-half own goal by Sam Graham and a second-half beauty from the impressive Mason Mount, borrowed from the manager’s former club Chelsea, saw his team progress in a tournament he won twice as a player. Lampard needed a pick-me-up and he got it thanks to 19-year-old midfielder Mount. ‘His overall game was very good,’ said Lampard. ‘It was a complete performance. People think he is a goalscoring midfielder but there’s a lot more to his game. Everything was good tonight.’
