MORE than 11,000 people who were born in Sri Lanka have been adopted overseas, with many of them growing up with little knowledge of what they left behind. This first of a new two-part series follows two women — Rebecca and Ria, who were both adopted as babies, as they go in search of their birth families in the hope of finding not just long-lost relatives, but an identity. Rebecca was nine when she accidentally discovered that she had been adopted as a baby by a Sri Lankan couple living in London. Will she and husband Anton (pictured) find the truth about her origins in Sri Lanka?
