Buffett’s Apple buy-up

WarreN Buffett’s Berkshire hathaway has continued to build its stake in apple, filings show.

The Wall Street titan’s firm bought 12.4m shares in the second quarter, taking its holding to nearly 252m.

It means it now owns about 5.2pc of the iPhone maker, which is the world’s most valuable company.

at yesterday’s prices, Berkshire’s stake is worth more than £41bn. Buffett’s move came after he said apple was ‘an unbelievab­le company’ earlier this year.

he has largely avoided investing in tech firms but says the iPhone is a product he understand­s.

after steadily building its stake in apple, Berkshire is now the company’s secondbigg­est shareholde­r.
