Football fallacy

-

THERE is an easy answer to the question about the lost skills of football managers (letters).

unlike in the past where a manager identified a player who he thought would strengthen his team and went

out and bought him, today bean counters who have little knowledge of the game are the ones who buy the players.

Mourinho asked at both Chelsea and Manchester United for certain players, but got very few of them. It is little wonder he has said his job title should be coach, not manager.

Before the 2017 season, Antonio Conte at Chelsea wanted three outstanding players, but instead he was given eight average players, none of whom proved to be successful. How is any manager supposed to show his skills when he has a team unable to play his type of football?
