Tory story
I’Ve been a Conservative Party member for 50 years, but twice I have resigned my membership in anger.
The first time was when edward Heath signed the Treaty of rome, which established the EEC.
I drifted back before leaving in disgust when Margaret Thatcher joined the ERM. I re-joined after she smashed the unions and restored British pride by retaking the Falkland Islands. I fear that I must resign again and lose my network of friends in the local association because of my anger at the policy of appeasement in the Chequers White Paper.
