I AM astonished that those taking part in a consultati­on by West Sussex County Council to relocate Horsham fire station are being asked if they are pregnant, what their religion is and whether their gender is the same as the one assigned to them at birth.

What relevance do these questions have? The informatio­n collected has no value because it’s optional.

It’s a moot point whether this can be regarded as the processing of personal data, but if the council is collecting more informatio­n than it requires for the immediate purpose, surely this is a breach of data protection legislatio­n.
