GERRARD’S ‘RESPECT’ GRIPE

-

STEVEN GERRARD complained Slovenian side Maribor had shown his team ‘no respect’ after Rangers repelled a late charge from the hosts to book their place in the Europa League play-offs. ‘They had no respect for us, but my players have proved over two legs we are better than Maribor, and that gives me great confidence going forward,’ said Gerrard. Keeper Allan McGregor saved Marcos Tavares’ stoppage-time spot-kick to ensure the second leg ended in stalemate. Rangers won the first leg 3-1 and will now play Russia’s FC Ufa next week. Hibernian lost 3-0 on aggregate to Norwegian side Molde.
