Ex-porn star who claims she had affair with Trump quits Big Brother (and ‘£750,000 fee’) hours before show in row over her daughter
THE former porn star who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump has explained why she pulled out of Celebrity Big Brother at the 11th hour on Thursday.
Stormy Daniels said a ‘last-minute custody development involving her daughter’ stopped her going on the show.
The stripper, 39, was expected to be the star of this year’s Channel 5 series, with sources promising explosive revelations about the US President. The show was heavily promoted with an ‘ eye of the storm’ theme, a pun on her name.
But Miss Daniels is understood to have left the reality programme only hours before its live opening show, with insiders talking of a furious row with producers.
While sources claimed she was unhappy with her fee, Miss Daniels said that ‘being a mother came first’ and her no- show was down to problems in her divorce.
It is understood she had secured a £750,000 fee for her one-week appearance, making her the programme’s most expensive ‘celebrity’ to date.
Yesterday she was due to talk about the fall-out on ITV lunchtime show Loose Women, but was withdrawn at the last minute because of ‘ongoing legal issues’.
Loose Women explained that Miss Daniels was backstage but unable to appear on screen.
Panellist Jane Moore told viewers: ‘ She says that late last night [Thursday] there was a custody development involving her daughter in America; she’s seven.
‘She’s in the middle of a divorce. And she suddenly thought, “I can’t commit, I have a situation”. She said being a mother comes first.
‘She left America thinking everything was sorted. She said, “I will go on the live show, I want to explain why I’m not going into the house”. It was agreed she says, and suddenly it wasn’t. And they said, we don’t want you to do any of it … It has now become a legal situation.’
Nine days ago it was reported in the US that Miss Daniels had been awarded joint custody of her daughter, after initially being ordered to stay away from the child and her estranged husband.
She told Loose Women the claims she was asking for more money to appear on Big Brother were ‘rubbish’ and that she was ‘furious’.
Channel 5 did not respond to requests for comment.
Following Miss Daniels’ absence, insiders told The Sun: ‘Stormy landed in London and was taken to the Village hotel in Elstree where the celebs are put up.
‘From the outset it was clear something was wrong and once she sat down with the producers all hell broke loose. They just didn’t get on … Stormy point-blank refused to appear on the show on Friday night when she was scheduled to go in.
‘They tried everything to persuade her to stay and no one could work out why she’d fly all the way from the US to London before deciding to drop out, let alone turning down that massive fee.’
It had been hoped Miss Daniels would make revelations about Mr Trump. In March she said she had unprotected sex with him and spanked him with a magazine that had his face on the cover.
She claimed a mystery man threatened her and her daughter in 2011 after she tried to expose the alleged tryst and she had kept silent until now out of fear.
In January it was reported that Mr Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen paid her £103,000 to sign a nondisclosure agreement 11 days before the 2016 presidential election. Mr Cohen has denied ever threatening her.
On Thursday her lawyer told the Daily Mail that Celebrity Big Brother producers had ‘insisted she conduct herself in a certain way – they attempted to control her and produce a certain result, which she did not feel comfortable with. There was never any dispute over pay’.
A spokesman for Celebrity Big Brother said: ‘Stormy Daniels was booked to appear on the show several months ago and hours before the show was due to go live, informed the production team that she no longer wished to enter the house as previously agreed.
‘Producers discussed a variety of options with her but were unable to agree any acceptable conditions for her entering the house.’
