that more than half of Britain’s 433 councils have not agreed to donate £750 to purchase a lasting tribute to our World War I fallen, raising money for armed Forces charities. the black silhouette of a tommy, rifle by his side, single red poppy at his breast, is so hauntingly beautiful I can’t believe anything other than a Corbynista council would refuse it.
