Serial killer ‘slashed throat in jail suicide pact with girlfriend’

- By Andy Dolan

SERIAL killer Joanna Dennehy is thought to have attempted suicide in jail in a bloody pact with her prison lover.

The 35-year-old, one of only two female prisoners serving whole life sentences in Britain, is said to have been found with her throat slit, while her girlfriend had cut her wrists.

Dennehy then launched a second suicide attempt at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey after she was discharged from hospital – which also failed.

A source said of the earlier incident: ‘ When the guards found them they were entwined on the floor, which was covered in blood. They think they need splitting up now to make sure it doesn’t happen again.’

The identity of Dennehy’s lover, who also received hospital treatment, is not known.

Dennehy, of Peterborough, was jailed four years ago after pleading guilty to the murders of three men in over ten days in 2013.

She fatally stabbed Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, after bumping into him at a shopping centre and luring him to a property in the city for sex. His body was dumped in a wheelie bin.

Her second victim was flatmate John Chapman, a 56-yearold Falklands veteran who was stabbed more than 30 times. Afterwards she told her 7ft 3in accomplice Gary Stretch: ‘Oops, I’ve done it again.’ Later the Hospital: Joanna Dennehy same day Dennehy murdered a third victim, her landlord and lover Kevin Lee, 48.

His body – dressed in a black sequin dress – was found with stab wounds in the neck and chest. All three bodies were dumped in ditches around Cambridgeshire.

While on the run, Dennehy, a mother of two, randomly stabbed dog walkers Robin Bereza, 64, and John Rogers, 56, in Hereford. Both survived.

She has been diagnosed with several psychopathic and antisocial disorders, including borderline personality disorder. The triple killer became only the third woman in British history to be sentenced to a whole-life term – after Rosemary West and Moors Murderer Myra Hindley, who died in 2002 – when she was jailed at the Old Bailey.

She grinned and laughed in the dock as Mr Justice Spencer told her that she was a ‘cruel, calculating, selfish and manipulative serial killer’.

A spokesman for private firm Sodexo, which runs HMP Bronzefield, refused to comment on individual prisoners after the alleged suicide pact was reported in The Sun.

In 2017, it was reported that Dennehy had bragged to fellow inmates of the murder of a fourth man, but the Ministry of Justice said there was ‘no evidence’ to support her boasts.

Last month, it was claimed Dennehy was writing an erotic novel from her cell, based on her life, which she hoped could be turned into a film.

Dennehy is also said to have become friendly with a matriarch of the Adams crime family in London.

Connie Adams, 58, was pictured on her way to visit Dennehy at HMP Bronzefield.

The pair first met at the Surrey jail three years ago, when mother-of-three Adams was on remand over claims she took part in a shooting alongside her husband, convicted gangster Patsy Adams.

Charges against Connie were dropped in 2016 after gun victim Paul Tiernan refused to co-operate with detectives.
