The £8m second home

Seaside sale breaks records (and buyer won’t even live there!)

- Daily Mail Reporter

OVERLOOKING the mag - nificent Poole Harbour, and boasting a wine room, boat house, indoor pool and celebrity neighbours, this palatial house by the sea has it all.

But sadly for anyone with a modest budget who dreams of coastal luxury, that also includes a record-breaking price tag.

The Moorings, considered the finest home in the exclusive enclave of Sandbanks in Dorset, has sold for £8.09million. The lucky new owner is a female buyer from London who purchased it as a second home, according to estate agent Savills.

The price is a record for the peninsula and makes it one of the most expensive family homes to ever sell outside of London.

With 11,712 sq ft of floor space, the property is around 14 times the size of the average UK home.

And it means that for the privilege of calling former footballers Harry Redknapp and Graeme Souness neighbours, the new owner will be landed with a stamp duty bill of £1.1million.

The six -bedroom home was regarded as England’s most technologically advanced house when it was designed and built by Kingsbury Homes in 2009.

As well as the main house, there is a spa complex boasting an indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and gym, as well as a boat house and private jetty on to Poole Harbour.
