Eden at the double as Cas are too strong for Wolves

GREG EDEn scored two tries as Castleford defeated Warrington 28-18 to go third in the Super 8 standings.

Wolves beat Catalans Dragons 56-6 last week but were caught cold in the opening period as Castleford stormed to a 16-0 half-time lead, after tries from James Clare, Junior Moors and Eden.

But Warrington fought back after the break. Stefan Ratchford and Bryson Goodwin touched down to reduce the deficit to 16-12. But Eden dived over before another try from Mike McMeeken ended the visitors’ hopes, though Ratchford crossed over again at the death.

Elsewhere Huddersfie­ld Giants beat Hull FC 26-6. alex Mellor, Lee Gaskell, Ryan Hinchcliff­e and Ukuma ta’ai went over for the Giants.

EUROPEAN title-holders Leinster will kick off the Heineken Champions Cup campaign against Wasps. The tournament gets under way in Dublin on Friday, October 12, with four-time European champions Leinster launching the 20-team competitio­n.
