EX-ARSENAL PLAYER ARRESTED

- By MIKE KEEGAN

A FORMER Arsenal Under 23 left back has been arrested for an alleged serious sexual assault. Tyrell Robinson, 20, now of Bradford City, was held at Macclesfield Town’s Moss Rose ground on Tuesday by Cheshire Police. Robinson was suspended by League One Bradford on Thursday. The club declined to comment further yesterday but Sportsmail understands he is alleged to have carried out the sexual assault in the Bradford area late on Monday or early on Tuesday. The arrest was made by Cheshire officers on behalf of West Yorkshire Police, who are now investigating. Robinson, from Basildon, came through the ranks at Arsenal but was released last year without making a first-team appearance. He joined Bradford and was named Young Player of the Year after scoring three goals in 26 matches. Bradford’s Thursday statement said the player ‘has been suspended with immediate effect’ and that there would be no further comment. Head coach Michael Collins, speaking before today’s trip to Southend, would not elaborate but Cheshire Police said officers had ‘arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of a serious sexual assault ... on 13-14 August in the Bradford area.’
